History
The many small residential areas in the valley surrounded by mountains Picentini form the old "University of Giffoni Valle and plan ". There are different interpretations of the name Giffoni. Some do come from the greek word phonetic meaning "send sounds, and others from Latin gens funis or" land of rebellious people, "but the most acceptable interpretation Giffoni is that the name is referring to a person's name. The decisive "valley floor", however, certainly refers to the morphological diversity of the area. Some findings show that this area was inhabited since ancient times. The State of Giffoni, composed of as many as 36 houses, was dissolved with the abolition of the feudal by birth so the two municipalities of Giffoni Valle Piana and Giffoni Sei Casali.

Coming from South: Highway Salerno - Reggio Calabria, exit Pontecagnano, road from Fuorni to Giffoni Valle Piana.
train:
The nearest railway station is Pontecagnano but it is preferable to Salerno, which is about 30 km . ( http://www.trenitalia.it/ )
